What you need to rent a motorcyle in Thailand

My recommendation to be sure you can rent a motorcycle in Thailand:

1. First of all: You need to be able to ride a motorcycle with a gear shift, because not all motorcycles have an automatic transmission. If not, you have less choice of motorbikes, but you can still find them.
2. You need a drivers license.
3. You need an internationale drivers license, which you have to get in time back in your home country
4. Copies of your passport

For every rule there is an exemption. Many rental companies might not require one of the documents above. I have seen all variants of what documents rental shops wanted to see. If you want to make sure, you can rent all kinds of motorcycles available and from all rental companies, bring have those documents with you.
